Hectic Mornings

I am sure I am not the only one who has hectic mornings, in fact I am certain. This morning was not hectic for me, I left home around 6:00 a.m. to head for a physical therapy appointment. This was before (apparently long before) anyone else was awake. I offered to rouse the little ones for the DH, but he declined. At 7:30 a.m. I got a phone call from our daycare provider wondering if we overslept or what was going on. She didn’t have the kiddos yet.

I found out later this morning that Kiddo 1 couldn’t find any underwear, DH needed to shave and everything else was chaos. Normally, I get the kiddos up and off to daycare and some mornings are undeniably more hectic than others.

Here are my tips for getting thru the morning with a little more ease (Honey, are you listening?)

1. Pick out clothes the night before. It seems like such a little thing, but it makes life so much easier. This goes for everyone! No more scrambling looking for underwear or socks. No more guessing if this shirt goes with those pants…

2. Backpacks by the door ready to go before bedtime. This goes for briefcases, computer bags, etc.

3. If you have a timer on the coffee pot, use it. If not, get everything ready at night to make it one less thing to do in the morning.

4. Routine. Set a routine and stick to it. This is where we fall down. We get out of our routine and then the crazy mornings happen. This morning, I left early.

Will there still be crazy mornings even following these tips, absolutely. Kiddo 1 might be sick. Kiddo 2 might have a bad hair day. Mommy might have a migraine. Daddy might have to take the kiddos to daycare. Bad days happen, but here’s to keeping them a little less crazy on a regular basis.
