Occupy Kids

Before our road trip to Florida, I feverishly prepared things to keep the kids busy for the 33+ hour trip ahead of us. I got a lot of things to keep the kids occupied. Some things were huge successes, others, not so much.

Post-it notes; Crayola dry erase crayons and boards; glow sticks and bracelets; Crayola Color Wonder markers and paper; scavenger hunts and license plate bingo (along with a clipboard); pipe cleaners, a frisbee and activity books. I also have added a plain sketch book and twistable colored pencils to the mix.

Pipe Cleaners kept the kids busy for most of the first day (Minneapolis to Chattanooga, TN). I highly recommend buying a bag or two for any road trip. Coloring books and books also occupied the kids. The twistable colored pencils are WIN, but the dry erase crayons, not so much (they broke). The color wonder markers…meh, the kids lost the caps. The scavenger hunts and the license plate bingo were well received. Overall the kids did great. Let’s hope the trip home goes just as well.

I am thinking of healthy snacks. Granola (homemade, of course), some muffins/bars, maybe some cookies and definitely a LOT of grapes and maybe some homemade fruit snacks.
