We had a great weekend racing with ChumpCar at Brainerd International Raceway. It was Mayhem! Quite literally! This was our first race since we did the motor swap in the Honda. The motor ran great! We changed things up, so our first pit stop was chaotic, or should I say, it was Mayhem.
On Saturday, our team finished 5th out of 40 cars. It was awesome! By finishing in the top 5, we are now invited to the Central Division Chumpionship at Topeka, KS in September. We are very excited.
Sunday, started out wonderfully. Mark started and had our little civic in first place by the time he came in after his 1 hour 45 min driving stent. Jay went out and was back in after the first lap, because he blew the top radiator hose. We changed the hose and sent him back out. Things seemed to hold, but we were down to 14th place, about 5 laps. When Brent got in the car, things were going good, we were beginning to creep back up the standings.
Well, Brent went off on 3 and cracked the radiator. I spent 25 min holding the fan, trying to keep him cool, while Jay and Wade tried to make the necessary repairs. With a new radiator he was underway, but didn’t stay that way for long. The spare radiator had a crack and with 2 hours to go, we were out.
On the way home we ended up with a blown tire on the trailer, but other than that, it was rather unadventurous.
Today, I am tired and sunburned. I am ready to go home for a nap…and lucky for me, I get to!
