March on

February has come and gone. March is here. I have been working on sewing. I even picked up a vintage Kenmore sewing machine at Salvation Army…now to find a bobbin carrier.

Ice racing has come to an end..it ended similar to how it started: a busted transmission. I guess we know what we have to look forward to in our off season. Although, props go to my DH and his team mates for swapping a tranny to finish the second day of the weekend.

I have been playing with free motion quilting and am having a blast. Table runners and flannel quilt blocks are as brave as I am right now. I am also in the process of making a vintage inspired apron…or two. I purchased some gorgeous pink fabric with cherries that is just asking to be made into an apron…perhaps the black with cherries is destined to be a sundress. Miss E wants an apron as well. She picked out pink with chocolate covered cherries. I am expecting that Mr. N will want an apron…probably with sharks or maybe flames.

I made a fascinating discovery after I had foot surgery: part of my headaches are from wearing contacts at work. 2 new pairs of glasses and I am experiencing fewer headaches. What I realized is my contacts do not correct for my astigmatism, but my glasses do. In talking with my neurologist, we think that this may be one thing that, while not triggering the monsters directly, makes me more susceptible to them. For now, I am wearing my glasses and enjoying fewer headaches.

Also on the health front, I joined Anytime Fitness. I LOVE their classes on demand. Who would think I would enjoy kick boxing? But, I do. With sinus surgery last week, I still need to do a fitness consult and learn how best to tackle my problem areas.
