Heart ache

My heart is aching for my friend who recently lost her mother. There are no words that we can ever share that make it better, nothing that we can say to ease the pain. I know this. Having lost my mother-in-law 6 1/2 years ago, I’ve been there. I know the loss of a mother-in-law cannot compare to the loss of a mother.

After hearing of Mary’s passing into eternal life, I couldn’t help but think just how grateful I am for my own mom.

This past weekend my mom and I canned tomatoes. I cherish the moments, the hours and the days we spend together. Seeing someone I know go thru the loss of a parent makes me realize that all of us have a limited number of days here on earth and we should live life to the fullest.

Back to the tomatoes…2 and 1/2 bushels! 85 pints…all of which sealed. I can’t wait to enjoy the fresh delicious tomatoes come winter…chili, veggie soup, hot dish…so many options.  My friend M and I have been doing a ton of canning as well. We made homemade tomato soup, 36 pints and over 30 pints of salsa. Plus pepper jelly and we haven’t even started with the tomatillos! I can’t wait!
